Darin Hunter has been in the mortgage business since 2002. He’s the producing branch manager of the Hunter Branch of MortgageRight in Woodstock, Georgia, powered by TJC Mortgage, Inc., licensed in 27 states, and known to most people as The Mortgage Hunter (NMLS #29290).
Born in upstate New York, Darin landed in Georgia in the sixth grade and never left. He earned a finance degree from the University of Georgia and started his career in a high-volume call center, where he learned early that speed, service, and process aren’t optional — a lesson that still shapes how he runs his business today.
Now he leads a residential lending practice built for people who want a strategy, not just a rate quote: move-up buyers sitting on equity, investors ready to scale, and high-income professionals who care more about cash flow than the number on a sheet.
What sets Darin apart is that he doesn’t just finance real estate — he builds it, flips it, and holds it. On the construction side, he owns DH Homebuilders and works to build forward commitments and ground-up financing, giving him a firsthand understanding of a draw schedule from both sides of the table.
On the flip side, he buys and renovates properties across Cherokee, Cobb, Bartow, and North Fulton counties. He walked the crawl spaces, priced the scopes of work, fought the appraisals, and absorbed the cost when a project ran long.
On the rental side, he’s built a portfolio designed for long-term cash flow — and uses that same playbook to help clients build theirs. So when an investor brings him a deal, Darin evaluates it as an operator first and a lender second.
Outside the business, he serves as President of the Woodstock Business Club and President of Every Link Matters, a nonprofit supporting families affected by a rare genetic condition. He creates education-first content for buyers, investors, and business owners, and never misses a chance to spotlight a local small business.
Above all, he’s a husband and father first, and he builds his calendar around that.
